Family Business
About 10 years ago I became aware of chainsaw carving.
We were just starting up our watergarden center and were doing a lot of
Saturday exhibits at our local Farm & Ranch Supply store.
They often had carvings on display and I started collecting carvings. As the
years progressed and my collection grew to many bears, raccoons & moose carvings
so did my interest in making them myself.
As our start up company ( WorksCorp
) became more established I took up powered parachuting and float tube fishing.
But with the purchase of a cabin and some forest land I started learning to use
the chainsaw for firewood and clearing the property.
In early 2004 I decided to take the plunge and purchased every book, video
and dvd on chainsaw carving that I could get my hands on. A few chainsaws,
safety equipment and gallons of wood seal later I was carving bears (many that
resembled pigs or rabbits) that died horrible deaths in the campfire.
More books, more dead bears, a training class or two and the bears started
looking like bears.
My son & I have started ChainsawDesign & rented the old watergarden center
grounds for our moonlight startup. This is very handy since at least in theory I
can back away from the computer and only work out my programming frustrations
with a chainsaw.

More about the Fulltime Job:
Our carvings have been featured on television and in magazines. Unfortunately
not because they are the best carvings out there - but because I am probably the
only Inc 500 company owner that has a hobby that involves a chainsaw.
If you are in the market for any backyard gardening products please take a
look at our websites.
